Based on the Volvo 40.1 concept, the Company has recently planned on releasing its new 2018 Volvo XC40 SUV. The Volvo has expressly aimed the new range of SUVs for the luxury-hungry car lovers. The car maker has induced the Compact Module-based architecture with a lighter body and shinier exterior. Aimed at BMW’s X1 series of crossovers, the Volvo XC40 is expected to be released by early 2018. Sharing its looks with its bigger brother XC90, the Volvo has expressly mentioned that XC40 will not be just a mini XC90. Use of exclusive Scandinavian designed interiors will make XC40 a hit among European customers, say Volvo.
2018 Volvo XC40 – Strongly Built Interior
From the outside, the 2018 Volvo XC40 resembles its higher brother XC90 in many ways but Volvo refuses to call it copied from latter. The leaked XC40 spy shots clarify its modular structure which owes most of it from Concept 40.1. XC40 features concave shinier grilles and noticeable curves.
Aimed at its potential off-roading capabilities, the Volvo has raised its ride height with stronger 18-inch wheels extensive use of lightweight material adds to its aerodynamics and the typical modular structure helps maintain curb weight. The Volvo guarantees a classier look for the XC40 with L-shaped taillights and stretched LED headlamps.
Strongly built interiors make sure that buyers will enjoy every bit of the ride. Although nothing has been confirmed as yet, the Volvo promises to install a classier light shade matte-wooden and chrome finish. The drivers and passengers are promised to complete entertainment with Sensus infotainment facility. Volvo’s pilot Assist will enable drivers to start the vehicle even from a distance.
2018 Volvo XC40 – Engine and Transmission
The new 2018 Volvo XC40 is expected to be offer 1.5 liters 3 cylinders turbocharged petrol engine. Adding to it a 2.0 liters diesel engine is also expected. The Volvo has worked correctly on reducing CO2 emissions as well as making it more fuel efficient.
Apart from the petrol and diesel engines, the Volvo has been working on making hybrid engines designed to operate with conventional engines. Aimed at producing a higher amount of horses, the XC40 will be featuring the same T5 badge as XC90. This AWD Plug-in Hybrid with the twin engine T5 badge complements the 1.5 liters petrol and produce a maximum of 250 HP combined. This will be fitted to a 6-speed auto/manual transmission.
With expected sales of over 1 million for the Plug-In Hybrid alone by 2025, the 2018 Volvo XC40 will represent the Concept series 40.2. The electric motor can alone help this car move 31 miles and is added to a dual clutch suspension. The Volvo is eager to treat XC40 as an actual young sibling, and hence it made to perform.
2018 Volvo XC40 – Competition and Pricing
The 2018 Volvo XC40 offers BMW X1 a tough competition. Not only is it cheaper than X1, but it has also got better building quality and stylish Scandinavian interiors. The BMW X1 offers better handling and ride quality. The Volvo has not yet decided the price for its XC40, but it’s expected to cost lesser than XC60.
