Even though only a rumor until a few months ago, it would seem that the 2018 Nissan Navara SUV is actually on its way and ready to enter serial production. The Navara SUV is a whole new variant of the venerable Navara pickup truck.
According to the latest info, it is actually supposed to be a nice blend on the latest Navara truck and the older Pathfinder SUV. With it, the Japanese manufacturer plans to offer something new and fresh, yet reliable to those who know what to expect from a Nissan vehicle. It is also a model that will surely challenge the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour, vehicles that dominate the pickup SUV segment.
2018 Nissan Navara SUV – Aggressive-Looking Headlights
Even though the 2018 Nissan Navara SUV looks like an actual blend of the Navara pickup truck and the Pathfinder, it does bring its own unique feel and touch. As opposed to the early prototype model, the production model will look better, with a more stylish design. In the front, it will feature a prominent V-Motion grille. The grill will be smaller and sleeker than the one found on the Navara NP300.
There will also be a set of smaller, yet more aggressive-looking headlights too. In the back, spy shots have revealed a set of new taillights, in addition to a unique looking exhaust system. The entire look of the SUV’s rear end will be boxy, albeit with a more stylish tailgate. This whole look will be well complemented with a beefier bumper and wraparound LED clusters.
When it comes to the interior of the 2018 Nissan Navara SUV, there has been no concrete information so far. However, according to the latest rumors, it will most likely retain the majority of the Navara’s features. That means we should expect a tall center console, a wide and ergonomic center stack, and a multi-function steering wheel. While the cabin’s front will closely resemble the Navara’s one, in the rear, we will see a new configuration, aimed at providing enhanced room and passenger comfort.
Engine Options, Specs and Performance
The Nissan is yet to announce the engines the 2018 Nissan Navara SUV will use. However, it is most likely going to feature the same engines found in the pickup truck. These will include a 2.5-liter gasoline engine and a couple of diesel ones too. The diesel variants will be a 2.3-liter and a 2.5-liter engine. The transmission options will include a new 7-speed automatic gearbox and an older 6-speed manual, alongside an all-wheel drive.
Release Date and Expected Price of the 2018 Nissan Navara SUV
The upcoming SUV is expected to hit serial production by the end of 2017. Once it starts rolling off the production lines, it will probably sell for around $34.000.
