The 2017 MG GS SUV is a middle-class crossover, produced by the Chinese car manufacturer, SAIC, pretty unknown on the international market, and which doesn’t have a history whatsoever in the SUV-producing market, but considering the high demand for SUV’s they probably saw an opportunity in this and are trying to create the name for themselves in this very competitive market. Their main competition will be the Nissan Juke and Peugeot 2008 but what they cannot compensate for tradition and experience can be filled with a cheap selling price.

The body of the 2017 MG GS SUV is designed to be a standard compact SUV. The exterior looks very imposing and sportive, with sharp edges and a lot of angles traced all over the bodywork. The headlights and the taillights are completing the sharp style of the car, being designed in the same manner. They use the LED technology, like all the other 2016 -2017 produced cars. The rear bar is a little “calmer” than the rest of the car and the 2 exhaust pipes are integrated into it, with a nice, silver insertion.
The Chinese producer didn’t share a lot of information about the interior features of the 2017 MG GS SUV but what we know is that the car will come with seats for 5 passengers, and the rear bench could be folded, in order to increase the cargo space. The car will have a central console in the middle of the dashboard, which will be a 6.0 inch LCD touchscreen with functions like Satellite navigation, a backup camera, smartphone and iPod connectivity by Bluetooth and many others. The system control functions will be operated by some buttons and knobs, which can be found bellow the LCD screen.

The information regarding the engine used at the MG GS SUV are not yet confirmed, but however, there are some unofficial sources are claiming that the standard will be a 1.5-liter petrol engine, that will be able to produce up to 160 hp and 180 lb-ft torque. Another option that could be used on the new GS is a 2.0-L four-cylinder petrol engine, capable of producing up to 217 hp and 258 lb-ft torque, but this will only be available for the Asian market. The information of the standard gearbox is not confirmed either, but we should expect to a six-speed automatic dual clutch transmission with both engine options.The performance of the 2017 MG GS SUV is a decent one, the car being able to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.0 seconds with is more than satisfactory for an SUV with a 1.5-L petrol engine.

There is no certain information about when the 2017 MG GS SUV is going to be launched, but the car it’s expected to appear on the general market in the last quarter of 2016. The price is very decent for an SUV and we can expect manufacturer’s suggested retail price range between $20,000 to $23,000, depending on the feature package that you’re going to select. The new GS has a tough mission in its attempt to overpass famous models like Juke or 2008, which already have a target audience but with determination and a good sales strategy they will be able to become a serious threat for the competitors.
