2018 Mercedes GLC Release Date, Engine

The German automakers are all set to roll out their new vehicle the 2018 Mercedes GLC. A 4×4 SUV, by all means, is borrowed its engine from Mercedes AMGs’ and style statement of a coupe leading to the creation of an engineering excellence. It is supposed to arrive in four variants- GLC300, GLC300 4Matic Coupe, AMG GLC43 and GLC350e.

The Mercedes have put in everything to make GLC an awe-inspiring piece of automobile. The 2018 Mercedes GLC is better known as sports SUV that has a number of features which makes it irresistible from inside. Carbon fiber trims on the dashboard and along with a 7-inch infotainment system adorn its front half.

With ambient LED lighting, thermal climate control comes as standard. The high-quality linen wood with black ash leather finish makes premium interior and a treat to be in. It boasts of a 14-speaker surround sound system from Burmester. Tech-wise, expect Mercedes’ premium voice activated navigation control and ambient temperature control in this car as well.

Exteriors Look

With a shiny and sleek design and a black diamond finished grille, this car is sure to be a head turner for many. The panoramic roof is also speculated to exist.

The wheelbase on 2018 Mercedes GLC has been also extended by 4.6 inches on the broader side and ground clearance will range between 7 inches and 9 inches. As standard, the LED daytime running lights and power mirrors will also be available throughout.

The 2018 Mercedes GLC comes with Night Attention assist and drowsy driving alert. In addition to this all round airbags, adaptive high beam assist, and dimming headlights will also be present. GLC also provides radar-based Collision Prevention Assist, Attention Assist, Cross – Traffic Assist, Distronic Plus cruise control.

In addition to this Pedestrian Detection with Pre-Safe Brake technology, Blind Spot Monitoring System, and Lane Keep Assist System comes as standard.

The 2.0 liters 4 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine provides a power output of 241 HP with a torque value of 273 lb-ft in the case of GLC300 and GLC300 4Matic Coupe. The junior AMG versions will be a 3.0-liter twin turbo engine producing 362 HP of power with 384 lb-ft of torque. Expect GLC to have a 9-speed automatic transmission with an acceleration of 0 to 60 mph in 6 seconds.

While the GLC300 is expected to have an EPA rating of 22/28 mpg in the city/highway, GLC300 4Matic will score around 22/27 in city and highways respectively. A hybrid model is also expected to have an EPA rating of 21 miles on full charge.

Direct competition will come from Acura RDX, Audi Q5, Infiniti QX50 and Range Rover Evoque. To add to the queue Volvo XC60 and Porsche Macan can also be lined up in this segment.

The 2018 Mercedes GLC is expected to have a starting price of around $40,000. Expect it to hit dealerships during the winter of 2017 or early 2018.
