2018 Kia Sorento – Exterior Styling:

The experts suggest that 2018 Kia Sorento will come with minor changes on the exterior body. The grille will come refined with scaled cross-hair styling. Similarly, the headlights will get a striking look with sharp outer edges.

The rear fascia will hold a quad arrangement of LED fog lights with a neat intersection. Sharp metallic arch molding in the side body will be a new addition. Its door handle pockets will integrate LEDs as part of the Smart Welcome feature. Heating and auto-dimming feature on the door mirrors will come as optional.

Like the exterior, changes will be modest in the interior cabin. It is believed that subtle changes will be focused towards technological features. The previously used 4.3-inch infotainment display will undergo revisions and sync with SiriusXM® audio system.

2018 Kia Sorento – Chassis and Performance:

The 2018 Kia Sorento is expected to put out a sportier performance than its predecessor. This new-gen model will take less than 7 seconds to complete the 0 to 60 mph sprint. The steel unibody chassis is also suspected to undergo revisions for improving energy-absorbing crumple zones. The front suspension will incorporate independent MacPherson struts along with coil springs and stabilizer.

Engine Specs:

The new Kia Sorento will retain the powertrain of its predecessor which will leave buyers with 3 options – a 2.4L inline 4, a 3.3L V6 and the 2.0L turbocharged inline 4.

  • First off, the base engine i.e. 2.4L inline 4 will receive several tweaks to produce outputs of around 185 HP at 6,000 RPM and 182 lb-ft torque at 4,700 RPM. The fuel economy is expected to be improved around 24 mpg city/ 29 mpg highway/ 26 mpg combined.
  • As usual, the 3.3L V6 will come optional in the base model and standard in some specific trims. Expect the outputs of this engine to step up to 290HP at 6,400 RPM and 276 lb-ft torque at 5,500 RPM. The EPA ratings for this engine might go as 22 mpg city/ 27 mpg highway/ 25 mpg combined. This engine will get an increased towing capacity of almost 5,300 lbs.
  • The 2.0L turbocharged 4 cylinder engine should top out as the most powerful one in the bunch. With slight revisions, this engine will be producing 240 HP at 6,600 RPM and 260 lb-ft torque at 5,800 RPM.

The front wheel drive will come as standard on the base model and all-wheel drive as optional (standard on higher trims). An electronically controlled 6-speed automatic transmission will be featured as the sole option.
