The Cherokee, one of Jeep’s iconic vehicles, is expected to come out in all its grandeur as the 2018 Jeep Cherokee. Currently, in its fifth generation, the Cherokee started out as a full sized SUV and made its way through becoming a compact SUV. The main competitors of this model will be other popular vehicles in the same segment like Honda Pilot, Ford Escape, and BMW X5.
2018 Jeep Cherokee – Body and Design
The 2018 Jeep Cherokee is set to look more like a family car shifting from its off-road image. Furthermore, the Jeep gets rid of the usual upright grille design in a Cherokee for a more minimalistic design. This new vehicle will include redesigned bumpers and stronger tail lights. The dimensions of 2018 Jeep Cherokee are not going to be changed from its previous version. Such a change probably was not even needed, since Cherokee is known for being spacious for passengers, although cargo space is not too large.
On the inside, the Jeep has managed to bring a good combination of elegant as well as rugged features like a heated steering wheel, seats covered in beautiful Nappa leather and cooled seats on the front are supposed to be present. This tells us that new Jeep Cherokee will not be too different from its previous versions. The mirrors with power folding and a panoramic sunroof will also be provided. Its safety features like parking assistance, automatic braking system and lane maintaining automated support will also be on offer. An 8.4-inch screen on the dashboard will let you manage your infotainment and navigation via Uconnect.
2018 Jeep Cherokee – Engine Department
The new Jeep Cherokee will offer two options when it comes to the engine. The first option is a 3.2-litre V6 engine that is flex-fuel capable and also has variable valve timing. This engine is capable of producing few more horsepower than the previous Cherokee model which takes power to 271 hp. Another engine that could come with Jeep Cherokee is a 2.4 liter which is capable of producing 184 HP. All-wheel drive will be optional, but front wheel drive will remain the usual choice. The EPA ratings put a combined city and highway fuel consumption to around 22 to 25 mpg, a decent mileage for a crossover. This vehicle will come with an eight-speed automatic. Top speed is 121 mph while 0 to 60 mph takes 7.5 seconds.
2018 Jeep Cherokee – Expected Release and Price
The last major changes in Cherokee came in 2013, and now it is set to come out in mid-2017. The price of 2018 Jeep Cherokee will vary according to the model chosen and the amenities on offer. The market price of the current basic model is a little less than $25,000, and that can remain the same. Its higher trims could cost over $32,000.
