There are speculations that the Japanese automakers are going to release the new model 2018 Honda HR-V. It has been a while since an updated HR-V was rolled out. Now with news of the new Honda HR-V, its buffs can finally breathe out in relief.
2018 Honda HR-V – Expectations
This is a model which first staged a launch way back in 1990. However, the Japanese automakers are planning to roll out a new edition of the Honda HR-V model and this upgrade just seems an attempt to perfect their model further.
The 2018 Honda HR-V will come with 2 separate engines for US and Europe: When talking about the Honda HR-V engine, there is every possibility that the automakers will likely keep the same configuration. There will be most likely a couple of engine variants without the possibility of choosing. One will specifically be targeted for the US market and the other focused on the European auto-arcade.
2018 Honda HR-V – Powertrain
For the US market engine configuration will be a 1.8 liter inline 4 cylinder engine. The power output of this engine is likely to be around 127 lb-ft torque and 141 HP of power. The automakers will offer transmission choices to its buyers, though. This engine will either come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT gearbox. EPA figures are expected to be around 25 mpg in city, 31 mpg on the highway and 28 mpg combined.
As for the European market, the Honda HR-V will offer a 1.6 i-DTEC 2WD. The power output of this motor will most probably stay around 110 lb-ft torque and 120 HP of power. However, as far as the gearbox goes, the European buyers will only get one option namely a 6-speed manual transmission. The EPA figures of this engine are expected to be around 27 mpg in city, 33 mpg on the highway and 30 mpg combined. For the European customers, this new gen 2018 Honda HR-V will present options for both All-wheel drive and front-wheel drive systems.
A possible hybrid variant!
There are also some speculations of a possible hybrid engine for this new-gen 2018 Honda HR-V. Similar to one of its sibling namely the Vezel, tipsters opine that it could also have a 1.5L naturally aspired engine mated to an electric motor/generator. This engine could crank up 40 mpg on an average and will specifically be offered for the US customers.
Launch, Price and Competition
Regarding this 2018 Honda HR-V, there are no such official announcements related to its official dealership schedule. But tipsters believe that it could come out in the in the last quarter of 2017 or first part of 2018. The price is expected to be around $20,000. Its market competition is expected to come from the likes of Nissan Rogue, Toyota C-HR, and Ford EcoSport.
