The Michigan-based car manufacturer is coming out with powerful three-row SUV the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT. Unveiled at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show in February, this full sized SUV will be yet another powerful car by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles through their Dodge brand that specializes in minivans and SUVs. The main competitors of this vehicle will be similar full-sized sport utility vehicles like Ford Explorer and Chevrolet Tahoe.
2018 Dodge Durango SRT – Inspired by Charger Hellcat
The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT derives a lot of inspiration from Dodge’s Charger Hellcat outer body designs. It has a similar wide-body design – its hood as cold air ducts and heat extractors for passage of excess heat. The LED fog lamps are present on the lower front fascia while rear fascia is at a lower position than Dodge’s other SUVs.
The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT weighs around 5500 pounds and has a towing capacity of a massive 8600 pounds. This is 1400 pounds more than its current models. 20-inch alloy wheels colored in Black Noise have been integrated into this vehicle.
On the inside, the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT is the first car to be offered with Laguna leather for upholstery in its family. Carefully hand-wrapped and stitched instrument panel gives off a very elegant appearance to the dashboard. The door mats and seats have all received an SRT logo.
The Durango SRT’s instrument panel includes an 180 mph speedometer which might be an indication of this vehicle’s top speed. Its front seats have heating as well as ventilation systems while rear seats have just the heating. It is a three-row SUV with seats for seven passengers.
Why is 2018 Dodge Durango SRT so powerful?
The manufacturer is endorsing 2018 Dodge Durango SRT as the most powerful vehicle in its segment and the main reason for that is its 6.4 liter Chrysler Hemi V8 engine. This engine delivers 475 HP of raw power and a total torque of 470 lb-ft at 4300 rpm. This enables this monster of a car to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds. It will come with a standard all-wheel drive platform.
The National Hot Rod Association certifies that this vehicle can cover a quarter of a mile in just 12.9 seconds. Now that will really be too hot to handle for its competitors in the segment, like the Chevy’s Tahoe. This Hemi comes with a TorqueFlight eight-speed automatic transmission gearbox and lets you choose from seven driving modes according to conditions of the path you are driving on. These modes are Street, Sport, Snow, Track, Eco, Tow and Valet. EPA ratings are not yet available; however combined fuel economy will be around 15 mpg.
Expected Arrival and Price
The new Dodge Durango SRT has received rave reviews after it was unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show which is why this car might be released before 2018. In fact, expect this to be available in the last quarter of 2017. The Dodge have not yet announced a tentative price, but experts think this vehicle might be available from $70,000.
