When it comes to cargo capacity and passenger room, very few SUVs can match the 2018 Chevrolet Suburban RST. Ever since its introduction, the Suburban has been synonymous with an abundance of room, durability, and interior comfort. However, with the introduction of the RST (Rally Sports Truck) trim, the Suburban has its own performance version now.
This variant features not only a far more powerful engine but also a good number of athletic exterior additions. With these, the American manufacturer aims to attract not only those who prefer classic SUV qualities but also the ones who have the need for speed.
2018 Chevrolet Suburban RST – The new Attractive Design
It would almost be an understatement to call the 2018 Chevrolet Suburban RST big. It is not just big, it is massive. As opposed to the modern European SUVs, which are more oriented towards style, not size, the American SUVs are still focused on achieving that brawny, imposing look. The 2018 Chevrolet Suburban RST is, of course, no different.
From the looks of it, it is obvious that the aim of the American engineers was to even further emphasize the Suburban’s size. With long, flowing lines, a massive grille, and large headlights, the Suburban has a commanding presence. But, since the RST trim is focused on providing a sporty feel, we can expect a number of athletic features as well.
For starters, the RST will ditch a lot of chrome details, and introduce plenty of black-colored ones. These will include a sleeker grille, roof rails, door handles, window trim, side mirror caps, and RST badges. To complement this athletic look, there will be 22-inch wheels, with custom designed Bridgestone tires.
On the inside, the 2018 Chevrolet Suburban RST will not introduce any notable additions and changes. It will be almost completely the same as the standard Suburban. This means we can once again expect an abundance of room, comfort, and luxury.
The feel of the Suburban’s cabin will closely resemble that of some of the most luxurious sedans out there. This will be achieved with top-class materials, artful stylistic choices, and with an excellent fit and finish. The passenger comfort is ensured, thanks to the fully adjustable, leather-covered seats, which will also feature the heating-cooling function as well.
The 2018 Chevrolet Suburban RST will feature the MyLink 8-inch infotainment system, Bluetooth, automatic climate control, a premium sound system and more.
Performance of the Engine
The true star of the 2018 Chevrolet Suburban RST is, of course, its engine. To bring that muscle power to the Suburban, the Chevrolet has opted for a 6.2-liter V8 engine. This powertrain will produce 420 horsepower and a max torque of 460 lb-ft. With this engine, the Suburban RST will be capable of going from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.7 seconds and towing up to 8.400 pounds of cargo.
To control all this power, Chevrolet will pair this engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission. In addition, it will also introduce a new braking system, in the form of 6-piston Brembo calipers.
Debut Time and Price
Those anxious to get their hands on the upcoming performance version of the 2018 Chevrolet Suburban RST will have to wait until the 4th quarter of 2017. The RST is expected to come with a price of no less than $66.000.
